It is now a year since Roger died so unexpectedly. His commitment and service to St Bartholomew’s was immense and will not be forgotten by so many of us. On the anniversary of his death, a small ceremony was held to commemorate his memory by the installation of a named bench just by the south door. The purpose of the bench is two-fold. One to highlight his memory but also, in a very practical way, to help his fellow bell ringers who wait outside the church building whilst a wedding takes place until it is their time to go in ready to ring in celebration. The bench is located in the area where Roger and his fellow bell ringers gathered so many times over the years and now, they can rest whilst waiting, remember Roger and thank him all at the same time! Thank you again Roger…..for everything.
